From the beginning, Vietnam Adventure Tours knew they needed OTAs to be successful. Since making GetYourGuide their first OTA partner, they’ve seen a total revenue growth of approximately 11,600%.
Vietnam Adventure Tours started back in 2012 with a goal of introducing international travelers to Vietnam through authentic, affordable, and experience-focused tours. Tuan Nguyen joined the team two years later, and since 2017, he’s been captaining the ship as its manager.
“We want international travelers to leave Vietnam with positive memories and a deep understanding of our local culture,” Tuan says. “Vietnam is a rising star in world tourism.”
Vietnam Adventure Tours has been on the rise right alongside the country. Once a founding team of five people, the organization now has around 100 staff members. In 2016, the year Vietnam Adventure Tours adopted its first OTA, GetYourGuide, they made around $17,000 in annual revenue. In 2025, that annual revenue hit around $2 million.
“GetYourGuide has been a key long-term partner in helping us expand internationally, improve operational standards, and connect with travelers all around the world,” Tuan emphasizes.
Here, Tuan talks about how their business revolves around OTA bookings and how GetYourGuide’s international exposure has opened the floodgates to success.
What is your organization’s mission?
Our mission is to provide authentic, well-organized, and memorable travel experiences in Vietnam. We especially focus on supporting the local community through long-term partnerships with local businesses and service providers in the region.
How has Vietnam Adventure Tours changed since it started?
When we started, we had a relatively limited team of only five people. After a few years, in 2016, we partnered with GetYourGuide and grew steadily. Now we have around 100 staff members.
We have a team of 10 people managing all the bookings on GetYourGuide and replying to customer feedback.

Why did you join GetYourGuide?
We couldn’t reach customers directly with just our team, so we needed to look for OTAs. We decided to work with GetYourGuide first because we saw huge potential in the European travel market, which was very active on the platform even in the early years.
When we started with GetYourGuide, Vietnam’s tourism industry was growing rapidly. We wanted to make our experiences more accessible to global customers through a trusted international platform.
We believed that a platform like GetYourGuide could help smaller local operators like us compete more effectively in the international market while improving our operational standards and customer service.
What has your experience been like working with GetYourGuide?
Working with GetYourGuide has been very positive and important to our long-term growth. Since partnering in 2016, we’ve seen the platform continuously evolve and improve, especially in terms of global customer quality and operational support.
The biggest surprise has been the increased visibility with international travelers. We welcome travelers from across Europe, North America, Australia, and many Eastern markets as well. Some of our most frequent customers come from the UK, Germany, France, the US, and Australia.
How have your bookings and revenue changed over the years with GetYourGuide?
In 2016, we received around five or 10 bookings per day from GetYourGuide. By 2025, there were days when we received around 200 bookings from GetYourGuide alone. This represents a total growth of 1,900% in daily bookings over that period. On average, this equals approximately 39.5% year-over-year growth.
About 60% of our daily bookings come from GetYourGuide. The rest is from other OTAs. We also have a physical office where customers can walk in and purchase tours, but direct bookings are very limited.
In 2016, our annual revenue was approximately $17,000 USD. By 2025, our annual revenue reached around $2 million USD. This represents a total revenue growth of approximately 11,600% over the period, with an average annual growth rate of 69.8%.

How do you use GetYourGuide tools to stand out from competitors?
GetYourGuide provides many useful tools to help us shape our products and stand out from competitors.
One example is how we optimized our Cu Chi Tunnel tour, a very popular attraction in Ho Chi Minh City. We noticed that international travelers value smoother logistics, smaller group tours, clearer communication, and a more polished itinerary rather than simply more stops.
Based on insights provided by GetYourGuide, we improved pickup coordination, adjusted tour pacing, enhanced guide communication, and revised certain itinerary details to create a more efficient customer experience.
Can you tell us about a time when customer feedback led you to make a change?
We continuously adapt our products based on customer reviews. International travelers value convenience, clear communication, flexibility, and especially authentic local experiences more than ever before. That’s why we regularly adjust tour timing, pickup processes, itinerary pacing, and customer communication.
Customers always asked us in advance for the pickup time and their guide’s number, but we didn’t assign guides until the evening before the tour. We only assigned tour guides in the morning.
There were so many questions that we started assigning the tour guide for the next day’s tour the night before. That way, we had the information and could provide it to the customers in advance. That’s much easier for the customer. I think this has improved overall customer satisfaction.
What advice would you give to someone just starting their partnership with GetYourGuide?
My advice would be to focus strongly on customer experience from the beginning. Pay close attention to customer reviews. Along with customer reviews, communication and operational consistency are very important. Those small details that improve the traveler experience continue to create success.
Long-term success on GetYourGuide comes from building trust with travelers through reliable service quality. Consistency is important. It takes time, but the long-term opportunities are very, very worthwhile.
If you were talking to another operator who's skeptical about working with OTAs, what would you tell them?
OTAs should be viewed not only as a sales channel but also as a long-term business partner that can help local operators better understand international travelers.
OTA platforms provide international exposure that would be very difficult for you to build alone. You need GetYourGuide. You need OTAs.

What is the biggest challenge you’re facing today?
The biggest challenge we face today is the conflict in the Middle East. It has impacted global travel, particularly major international transit hubs like Dubai and Qatar. When these important hubs are impacted, travel costs to Southeast Asia increase significantly for many travelers from Europe.
When the conflict started, we saw an increase in booking cancellations and a 30–50% drop in new bookings.
What are your growth plans for the future?
Over the next year, we’ll continue strengthening our core experiences in southern Vietnam, and improving operational quality and customer experience. We will also explore opportunities to develop more specialized and authentic local experiences. We aim to allow international travelers to connect more deeply with Vietnamese culture and communities.
Our goal in the future is sustainable long-term growth rather than rapid expansion alone.
